Doug Bowman, Head Coach
I started coaching Track and Field in 1986, coaching throwing events which included the discus and javelin. In 1986 I was blessed to have two great athletes which went on the win the girls and boys state discus and javelin titles in 1987 and 1988. In 1994 I began coaching my daughter in the discus and shot. She went on to finish 7th and 8th in the Youth Nationals and 4th in the OSAA state finals in 2000. Kelly then went onto Nevada-Reno University in Reno, Nevada, and threw the shot, discus and hammer for them. Kelly in now coaching Discus for Bishop Kelly High School in Boise, ID. I coach all events with a special interest in the throws and jumps. Our club has had special success in both of these events with National ranked jumpers and throwers.
Starting in 2000 I was blessed to be able to coached the #1 age group high jumper in the United States. Katie is now a senior at Sandy High School and is doing very well, Katie is also helping coach new high jumpers, which has really helped her with her jumping. Our top throwers are McKenzie and Kevin who are shot, discus and hammer throwers, McKenzie is currentlly ranked 4th in the Hammer in the USA. McKenzie finished 3rd and 4th respectfully in the Hammer at the JO Nationals in 2008 and 2009.
My goal is that each athlete and parent enjoy the experience in Track and Field. Track and Field is all about FUN.
